Linwood Gardens, located in my home town, is now part of my DNA, having spent my summers here literally every year since I was a teenager. The rare collection of unique Japanese tree peony hybrids makes this destination an important stop even for international specialists. And a joy for locals, too! I was fortunate indeed to know the founder, who had a true devotion for these trees, and now the project continues to grow through the perseverance of several passionate generations. The unique landscaping of the gardens is now part of New York State’s preserved registered historic landmarks.
An extra day open to the public has been added this weekend because of the extraordinary late blooms. Please enjoy a look at their website, and I’ve put a few pictures from a private tour on Friday, moments before attending the High School reunion. Just lucky, I guess.
