Today is my famous ‘gâteau quatre-quart,’ made from scratch from a French classic and perfected over 40 years. The aroma of vanilla and warm butter wafts from the kitchen, and the memories, too.

How many of these have been shared with friends, or given on opening nights, or as thank-you gifts, or on those times like now when nothing else will do…
