He wanted tiramisù today for his birthday.

Pretty predictable, since 1980.

We both “discovered” the mascarpone/espresso/chocolate specialty at the same moment, while lunching in Rome with our friend Massimo, in the vibrant shade of a sunny garden restaurant… tempi passati.

I think my own version is now up to international standards, and full of delicious memories, too. Flavored presently with a kind of nostalgia, or longing for simpler times.

But the sun continues to stream in, and we’re together.
